Kenneth L. Wasser

Kenneth L. (Ken) Wasser was inducted into the Army on August 4, 1953, at Ft. Meade Md. He received basic infantry and specialist cryptology training at Camp Gordon Ga. Upon completion he was designated a crypto specialist. After training he was moved to Ft. Lewis Washington for assignment to the far east. This resulted in being attached to the 8047 Signal Bn in Camp Zama Japan. This was the Headquarters for the Army Forces Far East and the 8th Army under the command of General Maxwell Taylor. There he became a member of a five-person telecom unit sending and receiving coded messages for units in the far east, the US west coast and Washington D.C... He eventually received a top-secret clearance to enable him to send and receive highly classified messages. Ken retuned home in 1955 and completed a six-year requirement in the Army Reserve. His decorations include the U.N. Service Metal and the Korean Service Medal. He attained the rank of E5 Corporal.
