Verne Hoffman was born June 25, 1936 in Doylestown Pa. to Walter and Virginia Woodring Hoffman. He graduated from Central Bucks High School. He was employed by Standard Press Steel from 1960-1971. In 1971 he started his own business American Rentals Inc. He was Married to Mary-Ann Leibfreid Hoffman for 54 years.
Following his graduation in 1954 Verne joined the Navy and served from 1955 until 1959. Verne said in an interview in 2015 that he was very lucky and never saw service during a conflict. .
Verne stated that his older brother lied about his age to enter the Navy. Verne dreamed of being a pilot but was color blind and was unable to pass the eye test so, he became a hydraulic mechanic.
Verne had two good stories he remember one was that on his days off the local drinking establishment would pay him to sit and play poker and convince others to join him for some drinks and a friendly game of cards.
Verne had the pleasure of meeting actress Karen Black when she came to make a movie "Hitching Post" at El Centro where Verne was stationed.
Verne passed away on March 19, 2016
